December 2006
- 31 December: First Night: Socialist Party members joined other anti-war activists in Copley Square from noon to 7 on New Year's Eve to distribute literature, meet with partiers, and start our struggle to make 2007 the year that saw the end of the wars. A party across the street in the Community Church of Boston was held afterwards.
- 30 December: First Annual Peace on Earth Event. Music, silent auction, screening of "Sir, No Sir", and a discussion with antiwar vets. Copans Hall, at Central Congregational, Hope and Hispanic Church building (85 Seaverns Street, Jamaica Plain), on Saturday, 30 December 2006 from 5 – 9:30. $2 entrance, www.peopleunited4peace.org or call 617-323-5623 for more information.
- 17 December: State Level Peace Meeting. Anti-war activists will meet in Encuentro5 at 10 on Sunday 17 December to organize state-wide cooperation between peace groups throughout Massachusetts. Meeting chaired by Grace Ross, 2006 Green-Rainbow candidate for Governor.
- 16 December: Oaxacan Women Rising: The Revolution Will Be Televised. INCITE! Boston will show this film Saturday, 16 December at 4 pm in Spontaneous Celebrations, 45 Danforth St., Jamaica Plain (Stony Brook T-stop).
- 16 December: Join Jobs With Justice and the Steelworkers to demand Justice at Goodyear on Saturday, 16 December. Help striking USW members at Goodyear who are striking for as long as it takes to get a fair contract and protect their health insurance. Join fellow union members in a show of solidarity by picketing from 9 AM to 11 AM at two Goodyear Store locations in Massachusetts: either the Goodyear on Grafton Street in Worcester or the Goodyear on American Legion Highway in Roslindale. This is a nationwide show of solidarity with pickets at hundreds of Goodyear locations around the nation.
- 15 December: Join United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 791 on 15 December for a union solidarity march in support of the Kendall Cinema Workers' fight for a fair contract! Friday, 5:30–7:30, at the Kendall Square Cinema, One Kendall Square Cambridge, MA 02139. For information call the Local 791 union office at 1-800-535-2752.
- 15 December: The Boston Teachers Union has been without a contract for three months and was not invited at an event honoring the Boston Schools for winning the BROAD prize for excellence in urban education. Picket in support and solidarity at 1:15 PM on 15 December at the entrances of the Boston Convention Center, located at 415 Summer Street in Boston. - 14 December: What's Next? Creating another world in a time of war, empire and ecological devastation: A discussion featuring Noam Chomsky, Alice Lovelace and others on 14 December at Emmanuel Church, 15 Newbury St., by the Green line Arlington stop. A fundraiser for Encuentro 5 and Massachusetts Global Action, $10-$15 tickets.
- 9 December: Assembling Peace IV, a Stop the Wars Coalition party and fundraiser at Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plains, 9 December, 8-midnight (all ages).
- 7 December: Join the Nurses of St. Vincent Hospital on 7 December for an Informational picket from 3:30 to 6. St. Vincent Nurses are once again struggling with a for-profit owner that is placing a concern for profits over a concern for the safety of patients. For more information visit massnurses.org.
- 3 December: A meeting of United for Justice with Peace's counter-recruitment campaign took place on Sunday, 3 December, from 1-3 pm at the offices of the American Friends Service Committee, 2161 Massachusetts Ave.
- 2 December: Jewish Voices for Peace is joined international demonstrations "to end the siege of Gaza and call upon Israel to embark upon negotiations with the Palestinian legitimate representative." 12-2 on 2 December at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Harvard Square (Mass Ave. and Church St., right at the Harvard Square T) -- Report.
- 2 December: Funeral March in Remembrance of Bhopal, 2 December. Meeting outside Park St. T-stop at 11:30am and March, Rally and Outreach from 12-2pm. Boston for Bhopal will be carrying coffins and bearers representing those who died and are dying daily in Bhopal to raise awareness about this ongoing disaster. At the end of the march, we will hear from Klare X. Allen of Roxbury Safety Net who is working to prevent parallel injustices from taking place in Boston with the BU Biolab.
- 2 December: December 2006 Local Meeting -- Report.
- 1 December: Un-Thanksgiving film showing and potluck dinner, 1 December. At 7 pm in The Democracy Center (45 Mt. Auburn Center, Harvard Square, Cambridge), a screening of Incident at Oglala: The Leonard Peltier Story, with presentations from Union del Barrio, a Chicano Mexicano liberation organization, and Omavi Bailey of the African People's Socialist Party, followed by a vegan-centric potluck feast. Sponsored by the Uhuru Solidarity Movement of white solidarity with justice and reparations for the African community.
- 1 December: The Rosa Parks Human Rights Day Committee held a rally and march on Friday, 1 December to call for the creation of a holiday honoring Rosa Parks and promoting human rights and human dignity worldwide. 1 pm in Dudley Square, Roxbury -- Report.

- 20 November: Hotel Workers Rising! Rally for a fair contract with workers from UNITE-HERE Local 26 at a City-Wide Hotel Worker Contract Rally starting 5 pm, Monday 20 November, in the Arlington St. Church.
- 20 November: Oaxaca is Not Alone - March and Day of Action in Solidarity with the Struggles of the Peoples of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Monday, November 20. An encampment on the Common from 7 am to 4 pm, followed by a march on the Mexican consulate -- Report.
- 20 November: Support Hotel Workers Rising! UNITE-HERE Local 26 City-Wide Contract Rally. Monday, 20 November, 5:00 at Arlington St. Church (corner of Arlington and Boylston, Arlington T stop on the Green line).
- 18 November: Stop the War Profiteers March, 18 November. Gather at noon in the Common, then march downtown after a rally and concert -- Report.
- 17 November: IWW Solidarity Night: An Evening of Musical Entertainment to Benefit the Starbucks Workers Union! 8-11 p.m. Friday 17 November, Zeitgeist Gallery, 186 Hampshire Street, Inman Square, Cambridge.

- 11 November: November 2006 Regional Meeting, Saturday, 11 November. Meet at the Alewife T stop at 9am for carpools -- Report.
- 4 November: Iraq for Sale, a film showing at Encuentro 5, Saturday, 4 November, 8:00 pm. It was followed by a discussion of the upcoming Boston march against the war profiteers.
- 2 November: Mass Day of Action for Oaxaca. Thursday. November 2. 4pm. At the Boston Mexican Consulate, 20 Park Plaza, near the Arlington T -- Report.
- 1 November: Protest & Goodbye Party to the World Trade Organization. When the WTO Director-General comes to Boston, Wednesday. November 1. 5pm. At 79 John F. Kennedy Street, Cambridge, Near the Harvard Square T.

- 29 October: October 2006 Local Meeting.
- 27-28 October: National Days of Action against McDonald's, in cooperation with the Student-Farmworker Alliance, 27-28 October.
- 25 October: Solidarity with striking UMass RNs in Worchester, October 26 at 6:00 AM. There was also a Pre-Strike Rally at 7 pm on October 25 at the Froshinn Club, 25 North Quinsigamond Ave., Shrewsbury -- Report.
- 24-28 October: Wheels of Justice visited Boston from 24 October to 28 October. They were at MIT and Cambridge on the 24th, Simmons College on the 25th, Harvard University on the 26th, and Somerville and Andover on the 27th and 28th.
- 14 October: Organizing Training Class in Cambridge held by the IWW, Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. $10 registration, with sliding scale for members/students/seniors/unemployed.
- 13 October: Socialist Film Series at Tufts presents Naomi Klein's "The Take". Friday October 13, 5:00pm, Paige Hall, Terrace Room, Tufts University.
- 11 October: Owner's Manual for Democracy, a talk by election reform advocate Steven Hill, 7:30 PM, Wednesday 11 October, 3 Church St., Cambridge (just off Harvard Square). Also broadcast on NPR -- Report.
- 6 October: Superpower Principles: US Terrorism Against Cuba at MIT, 6 October, 7-9 PM.
